Is it normal for pain pills to make everything seem really loud?

My doctor has me taking Vicodin for pain. It seems like the tv is blaring loud when i go to turn it down its really not loud at all. this also happens with people talking it seems like everyones talking really loud when they really arn't. Is this normal? and if so why does this happen??
